Charlie Sivukana from the Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) has returned from the Gold Coast Gold Conference in Queensland, where he joined global investors, economists and industry leaders to unpack the forces shaping today’s markets - and the enduring role of gold in uncertain times.
The conference offered valuable insights into investment trends and economic volatility, helping inform Charlie’s work and future policy discussions.
“The most valuable insight was a deeper appreciation of gold’s role as a store of value and a hedge against macroeconomic uncertainty,” Charlie said.
Supported by the Solomon Islands- Australia Partnership, Charlie is part of a growing network of Australia Awards alumni attending international conferences in 2026 - building skills, expanding networks, and bringing fresh ideas home to Solomon Islands.
